1.2 Objectives
The MAP Framework aims to make information exchange more consistent, usable, and implementable across distinct business use cases. Its objectives encompass all three subframeworks:
O1 — Establish a common use-case foundation. Provide a consistent approach for describing business purposes, participating organizations, required information exchanges, and the actors responsible for them.
O2 — Enable reusable transaction behavior. Define common transaction architecture and support governed generalized transaction definitions that can be selected and specialized without redefining shared behavior.
O3 — Make endpoint capabilities discoverable and interpretable. Establish a consistent approach for expressing the exchange functions, supported representations, and related capabilities of participating endpoints.
O4 — Improve information usability and processing consistency. Support appropriate use of human-readable and structured content, information identity, context, provenance, and clearly differentiated exchange outcomes.
O5 — Support progressive interoperability. Allow practical, purposeful improvements in information structure and workflow integration while building on existing infrastructure and standards.
O6 — Support clear, testable implementation expectations. Organize common, transaction-specific, and use-case-specific requirements so derivative UC IGs can state implementer obligations unambiguously. Establish consistent authoring conventions that support repeatable, traceable UC IG development by human authors and AI-assisted authoring tools.
These are objectives of the MAP Framework as a whole. Each derivative UC IG separately defines the Information Exchange Objectives associated with its own business problem.
