Chapter 4 — Endpoint Capability and Discovery
MAP Framework | Chapter 4 Editorial V1 — Proposed Replacement
Working draft for editorial review. Not yet an approved normative chapter.
This chapter describes recommended practices for communicating the interoperability capabilities of endpoints participating in exchanges defined by the MAP Framework and its associated Use Case Implementation Guides.
The MAP Framework supports progressive interoperability. Implementations may differ in the transactions, information objects, metadata representations, and workflow capabilities they support. Communicating these differences helps exchange partners determine how to interoperate successfully.
At this early stage of MAP development, the Framework encourages capability transparency without requiring sophisticated capability publication or automated discovery infrastructure. Human-readable descriptions provide a practical starting point. Machine-processable capability declarations may be adopted as implementations mature.
